Couples counseling for parents
You’re raising a family.
You’re also in a relationship.
When those two parts of life start pulling against each other, it helps to work with someone who understands both.
A place for the two of you.
Life with children asks a lot of a relationship. There are decisions to make, responsibilities to divide, and very little uninterrupted time. You might be doing your best and still feel that you and your partner are no longer on the same side.
Couples counseling gives us time to understand what is happening between you and begin changing it. That might mean working through repeated arguments, rebuilding emotional or physical closeness, repairing hurt, or finding a more supportive way to parent together.
Our work makes room for your relationship as partners and the realities of your life as parents.
What we can work on together
- Arguments that escalate quickly or never seem to get resolved.
- Withdrawal, defensiveness, or feeling you have to work hard to be heard.
- Loss of affection, friendship, or intimacy.
- Resentment about the mental load, household responsibilities, or time.
- Parenting disagreements that leave one of you feeling undermined.
- Repairing trust and reconnecting after hurt.
Understanding the pattern between you
I pay attention to the sequence that unfolds between you: what one partner does, what the other hears or feels, and how each response shapes the next. Often, both people are trying to protect themselves while unintentionally making connection harder.
We work to recognize that pattern, understand the needs and fears beneath it, and practice new ways of responding. The aim is a relationship where you can turn toward each other with more trust and recover more effectively when things go wrong.

I also lead Transformative Parenting, my parent coaching practice. That work deepens my understanding of the issues parents bring into couples counseling, from a child’s difficult behavior to conflicting ideas about limits.
Couples counseling focuses on your relationship with each other. Parent coaching focuses on how you understand, connect with, and guide your children. We can discuss which kind of support best fits what you need.
